Acer → Acer Ferrari 1000 North American Availability Announced

Acer America Corporation today announced the North American availability of the new Acer Ferrari 1000 laptop featuring 64-bit AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-56 processor at 1.8GHz and carbon-fiber casing.
The 12.1-inch widescreen Acer Ferrari 1000 comes with ATI RADEON XPRESS 1150 graphics chipset supporting up to 512MB Hypermemory. It provides VGA, HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) and S-video TV-out ports.
Lenovo → New Thinkpads to Feature Utimaco Security, 802.11n and Meroms

Lenovo today announced the first ThinkPad laptops using Utimaco security technologies enabling people to encrypt the contents of notebooks hard drive with a single swipe of their finger. Lenovo also announced that T, R, X and Z series Thinkpads are updated with 802.11n wireless technology, allowing users to achieve “faster than wired” connectivity with speeds in excess of 100 mbps. The company also added Intel’s Core 2 Duo (Merom) processors to its Thinkpad notebooks.
Panasonic → Panasonic Announced CF-30 and CF-19 Toughbooks

Panasonic today introduced two new rugged computers: Toughbook CF-30 laptop and Toughbook CF-19 convertible tablet PC. Both the CF-30 and CF-19 are constructed of magnesium alloy and include shock-mounted touch screens and hard drives. According to Panasonic, the new computers deliver “the brightest displays available today, without compromising battery life”. The 13.3-inch screen CF-30 boasts “an industry-leading” 1,000 Nit (candelas per square meter) LCD, while 10.4-inch screen CF-19 features a bright 550 Nit screen with a new low-reflection coating .
The Intel Core Duo powered Panasonic Toughbook CF-30 and Toughbook CF-19 are certified to the MIL-STD-810F standard, tested to withstand drops, shocks, vibration and extremes in temperature.
The CF-30 and CF-19 have WLAN, WWAN, GPS and Bluetooth wireless options and battery life of approximately 6 hours.
Both the CF-30 laptop and CF-19 convertible tablet PC are equipped with a cable lock slot, Trusted Platform Module (TPM v1.2) security chip, and feature optional fingerprint scanner. The Toughbook CF-30 can also be configured with an optional SmartCard reader.
The new Toughbooks will be available in December 2006. The base model CF-30 will be available at an estimated street price of $4,699.00. The estimated street price for a base model Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 will be $4,199.00. These and other Toughbooks are available exclusively through authorized Panasonic Toughbook resellers nationwide.
Apple → SeeThru Translucent Hard Shell For MacBook Pro Available

Speck today announced SeeThru Macbook and MacBook Pro translucent hard shells, made of sturdy and polycarbonate plastic. The SeeThru hard shells come in clear and red colors.
“With the easy snap-on design, users can shield their notebook from scratches and bumps while enjoying access to all features including keyboard, drives and ports. Shells come complete with rubber feet to help prevent movement on slippery surfaces. The durable shell is the perfect add-on when transporting your notebook alone, in a sleeve, briefcase or luggage”, the Speck’s press release says.
